満天星　You May be My Lucky Star

 

本研究科修士課程２年に在籍している張洋宇（Zhang Yangyu）がキュレーターを務める展覧会「満天星: You May be My Lucky Star」が10月5日(土)から10月18日(金)まで開催されます。

 

Exhibition period: 2019.10.05-18

Venue: Studio HB,  Tokyo, Taito-ku, lkenohata 2-6-12, 201 (〒110-0008 東京都台東区池之端2-6-12, 201)

Statement/Conceptual Text

 

満天星: You May be My Lucky Star

I look for signs, but of what?*1

The relation of the subject to the body, to phantasm, to the passage of time, to the ‘mysteries’ of life and death.*2

I Ching, horoscope, palmistry, omens, birthstones, flowers… I turn to someone for something different from pure science, belief, aesthetics, parts of each; meanwhile, open myself to the possibility of being questioned, in the hope of receiving revelation before getting lost, managing to speak up in tongues before becoming silent, revealing one more secret about myself before losing interest.

満天星(Man Tian Xing), literally meaning ‘stars all over the sky’, is the Chinese name for the flower baby’s breath, which symbolizes newborn, bonds, and the ability to stay focused on love.

Rest is on the horizon. As a newborn, bond again with the universe and with myself, like a star in the Milky Way, like a lover who has retrieved their focus on love.

満天星：君は私のラッキースターかもしれない

兆候を探しているけど、何の兆候なのか。*1

対象と身体、幻想、時間の経過、生と死の「謎」との関係だ。*2

易経、星占い、手相、前兆、誕生石、花…誰かに純粋な科学、信念、美学とは異なる何かを求めている。質問される可能性にも自分自身を開く。迷子になる前に啓示を受け、沈黙する前に何とか異言をしゃべり、興味を失う前にもう一つ自分の秘密を明らかにすることを願っている。

満天星とは、花のシュッコンカスミソウの中国名だ。英語圏には「Baby’s・Breath」と言い、文字通り「赤ちゃんの息」を意味し、新生児、絆、そして愛に集中し続ける能力を象徴する。

やがて安心できる。新生児として、宇宙と、自分自身と再び絆を結ぶ。天の川の星のように、愛への焦点を取り戻した恋人のように。
