特別セミナー
マナベ・ノリコ（テンプル大学准教授)を迎えて

以下のとおり、テンプル大学ボイヤーカレッジ音楽研究准教授マナベ・ノリコ先生をお迎えし、特別セミナーを開催いたします。マナベ先生は、日本のラップやレゲエ、DJなどの音楽文化を中心に、特に東日本大震災と福島原発事故の後の社会運動に用いられた音楽を分析した『革命はテレビでは放送されないThe Revolution Will Not Be Televised: Protest Music After Fukushima』をオクスフォード大学出版から2015年に出版し、現在最も注目されている音楽研究者、ポピュラー音楽研究者、日本研究者です。この本は出版直後から大きな反響を呼び、AAS(アジア研究学会)のジョン・ホイットニー・ホール・ブックプライズや英国民俗音楽フォーラムの学会賞をはじめ多くの賞を受けました。
今回は、マナベ先生のこれまでのお仕事や最近の関心についてお話をしてもらいつつ、活発に議論をする機会を作りたいと思います。

Noriko Manabe

Noriko Manabe is Associate rofessor of Music Studies at Temple University. Her monograph, The Revolution Will Not Be Televised: Protest Music After Fukushima (Oxford 2015) won the John Whitney Hall Book Prize from the Association for Asian Studies, the British Forum for Ethnomusicology Book Award, and Honorable Mention for the Alan Merriam Prize from the Society for Ethnomusicology. She is currently writing her second monograph, Revolution Remixed: Intertextuality in Protest Music, and co-editing the volumes, Nuclear Music (with Jessica Schwartz) and Oxford Handbook of Protest Music (with Eric Drott), all under contract with Oxford University Press. She has published articles on rap and the Japanese language, hip hop DJs, new media, the music business, and Cuban music, and has recently analyzed Kendrick Lamar and the sounds of post-Trump protests. She is series editor for 33-1/3 Japan, a book series on Japanese popular music at Bloomsbury Publishing. She is on the editorial boards for the journals, Twentieth-Century Music and Music and Politics, and the book series, SOAS Musicology, and is a contributing editor to the Asia-Pacific Journal.
