Project Overview
This multilingual musical play features 5 languages, including non-native speakers and dialects. Many of our members are immigrants with diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Throughout our creative process, we have sought to empower each other to create an open and equal space. Standing up against language- and/or culture-based discrimination, we are exploring new possibilities in stage production with no hierarchy. Here, our immigrant members celebrate their identities with pride. We also encourage our audience to engage in open dialogues before and after the performance.

Synopsis
The story takes place in a bar called “The WORLD,” but it could also be anywhere on Earth. It revolves around four characters: Suzuko, Lev, Ritsu, and Eve. Free from singular nation-state identities, they face many difficulties as life unfolds. Some deny their past; some don’t get along with their family; some hesitate to come out of the closet while some lose their connection to their home country. Grappling with their manifold identities, they weave their own stories of relationships, personal growth, and self-acceptance as the past and the present intersect.
